how long does it usually take an untreated uti to turn into a kidney infection? can you have a kidney infection w/o fever, but with ab/flank pain?

Kidney infection: Generally a Kidney infection is accompanied by a FEVER and some flank pain. Not all UTIs, even untreated will progress to a Kidney infection. There really is not a particular timeline.
