A member asked:

I have a habit of pushing my teeth with my tongue or resting my tongue on them. generally my top front teeth, and it hurts after 5 mins, why is this?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Pressure: It is similar to wearing braces. Pressure against the teeth pushes them in their bony sockets. The mini ligaments that hold the tooth to the bone are being pushed and pulled. They get sore. The tongue is one strong muscle and force. You can cause damage to the teeth and bone. Talk to your dentist about your habit.
