Review with your doc: This is something that first you want to let your physician know that you are interested in doing and two, ideally, you would create a plan with your doctor to taper off to minimize any rebound effects.

Recommend: Tapering off any medication could be a bit risky if done improperly, so, contact your doctor, and slowly taper off under supervision. Not surprised it is causing side effects, as this is very common, and a rather ineffective agent to prevent headaches. Many far more effective agents are OTC, such as riboflavin, butterbur, feverfew, magnesium. Find a headache specialist.
