Fibrocystic change: The most common cause of bilateral breast pain is Fibrocystic breast change which is present in 90% of women by age 40. It causes soreness which is most noticeable before your period and is made worse by caffeine. This does not increase the risk of breast cancer. The other possibility is pregnancy which also causes breast tenderness.
