Midback: Gas trapped in the esophagus may cause midback discomfort but usually there is associated discomfort in the anterior chest area as well. If there is recurrent upper or midback discomfort, I would suspect a musculoskeletal cause more than gas entrapment. It's best to have your physician evaluate your symptoms.
