Few days to weeks: How long it lasts will depend on the patient and the severity of the inflammation, but on average should improve in a few days to a few weeks. Treatment typically starts with NSAIDs (i.e. ibuprofen, Aleve) and gentle therapy and would progress to injections and finally surgery.
