Close Observation: Your son's description of "pop" sensation in stomach area may have been a very prominent bowel sound associated with cramp-like pain however must exercise caution with a child. Children do not complain & when they do, accuracy is not fully reliable; cues that your son really is ill may be missed. If your son complains again, shows any change in appetite, activity level then see doctor immediately.

Need more info: Recurrent? What part of stomach? How long does pain last? Burping or diarrhea? If he has a hernia, a small loop of intestine may "pop" through the defect and may temporarily block the intestine, which would cause pain until the loop of bowel was pushed back in. Most common places would be around navel or inguinal area. See a doctor if continues or there is vomiting. Glad pain is gone now
