No difference: Both Adderall (amphetamines) and Focalin (dexmethylphenidate) (methylphenidates) are the two classes of stimulants that are most effective in treating ADD/ADHD. Unfortunately it is trial and error so different patients will respond differently to either, also there is no distinction in which class is better for say ADD vs ADHD

Possibly: Diagnosis of adhd can be suggestive with tools such as the Vanderbilt /Conner's screening evaluation. It is a clinical diagnosis and heavily reliant on parent, teacher, caregiver &physician observation &history. There are specific criteria that have to be met in the DSM manual of psych disease. Talk to your doctor about screening, possible meds. Focalin (dexmethylphenidate) may be better for inattention in some.

Get an evaluation: You need to be evaluated for ADHD. Just thinking that you are NOT does not mean you are NOT ADHD. A non-ADHDer should feel over-stimulated if they take the meds, sort of like drinking way too much coffee. UCK!

Yes: Medications used for ADHD of the innate give type can be very effective, even if there is no hyperactivity.
