A 30-year-old male asked:

have been having a ton of symptoms for two years, neurological, disgestive, got a b12 shot yesterday all my symptoms are gone! related to the shot??

Be happy!: It is probably not related to the shot - B12 injections usually don't work that quick. Either way it doesn't matter! The key is you are feeling better and this is what is most important.

No: Vitamins help in keeping metabolism in order but do not boost it, i.e., vitamins do not increase the rate of metabolism.

Can I take green tea tablets and B12 together?

Yes: Vitamin B12 is absorbed by a complex process including a substance called intrinsic factor, which is produced by the stomach and delivered to cells in the small intestine for absorption. Although there are certain medications (acid blockers, for example) which interfere with the process by which B12 is absorbed, there is no reason to expect green tea to block any aspect of that cascade.

Provided you knew what's in that tablet. Your guess is as good as any when it comes to Chinese manufactured "natural remedies"

A member asked:

Can b12&mic help my energy levels?

Dr. Douglas McNeill
Family Medicine 49 years experience
Do not expect much: B12 can only help energy if you are B12 deficient, a very rare condition unless you are old or have special digestive disease. I am not certain what 'mic' is. Energy comes from a good diet, movement/exercise. Make sure you are also not depressed, a real 'energy killer'.

Do B12 shots help?

1 doctor answer4 doctors weighed in
Dr. William Lizarraga

Depends: What are you hoping will improve? A lot of people notice improved energy after getting a b12, that's true, but the only people who really need them are those with a deficiency of B12 that cannot be overcome with pills. Sometimes B12 deficiencies can cause nerve problems and other nervous system disease, so B12 shots can help with those.

A 37-year-old female asked:

I've been diagnosed with permicious anemia, however, the ifab test was performed after heavy B12 treatment. Could this produce a false positive?

2 doctor answers2 doctors weighed in
Dr. Martin Rubenstein

No.: Pernicious anemia is caused by an abnormal antibody that attacks intrinsic factor, a chemical your body needs to absorb vitamin B12 from the gut. No if, no absorption and B12 deficiency develops. The antibody test is not influenced by B12 treatment.
