Variable: Rarely done these days. Outpatient Doppler venous duplex exams are non- invasive, highly accurate and economical. Call the Vascular lab at your hospital or vascular surgeons office and ask. Usually covered if proper indications to have it done. Pain, swelling, prior clots, varicosities etc. If ultrasound and d-dimer are negative the liklihood of DVT is very low.
