Ankle swelling: There may be some swelling inside or around your ankle. Usually swelling in the ankle joint occurs under the outside of your ankle below the lateral malleolus. If its happening on both there may be something systemic happening in your system. You should see a specialist.

FATTY DEPOSITS. DJD: If the location is the same on both ankles, on the outside, it could be nothing more than fatty deposits. Does it feel firm, or more "squishy." Can you see your ankle bone? Do they look the same? Getting bigger? Morning stiffness about the ankles may be arthritis, although you are young. You should have your PCP take a look. Sincerely, Dr. Latva
