Abscess / Cyst: If a large red lump has formed, which is painful, it is most likely an abscess. One should apply warm moist soaks for 10 minutes every hour and not squeeze or attempt to pop. If it doesn't improve, or worsens, within the first 24 hours a consult is indicated. Occasionally incision and drainage along with antibiotics are needed. Good luck.
