A member asked:

If pragnet girl takes 1g of azithromycin will it cure chlamydia for her and the child?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes and no: It will treat mom. However, infection in the baby occurs during birth exposure. If mom is truly cured AND not reinfected, then the baby will be fine. The key here is not reinfected. So often partners are not treated and mom gets the infection again after treatment from the original source. Then baby picks it up during birth. Best to test mom for cure and make sure any partners are cured too.
