1 - 2 weeks: Chlamydia should be cured one week after you take your medication. You should be re-tested two weeks after you take your medicine to make sure that you no longer have an infection. Your partner should treated at the same time. Do not have intercourse until both of you have been retested and are free of the infection.

Can 500mg single dose of azithromycin cure chlamydia my syptoms are barely noticeable and if it can how long would it take?

No: The correct dose of Azithromycin is 1000mg not 500 mg. One 500 mg is not adequate for treatment. After treatment we recommend avoiding intercourse for 2 weeks to ensure it has resolved.

STD Testing: Azithromycin is fully effective at one gram dose for all forms of chlamydia. You should be free of any contagiousness forty-eight hours after taking the medication. Now, the bigger picture is that many on the front lines of the std epidemics would have also treated you for gonorrhea. If you have any symptoms that do not resolve with the Azithromycin then we may want you also given gc treatment.

4 days: Symptoms should improve after 24 - 48 hours. All sexual partners must also be treated, otherwise you either get reinfected, or partner/ex-partner may pass it on to someone else.

Allow seven days: Azithromycin can remain in the body for more than ten days after a single dose - as in the usual treatment for chlamydia. By day seven, chlamydia would be cured and the chance of transmitting the organism would be negligible. The chance for reacquiring chlamydia is very high if the infected person's partners are not also treated.
