How can you tell the difference between normal forgetfulness and dementia?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Check sympptoms: We get forgetful as we grow older. Stress and illnesses like anxiety and depression can also cause forgetfulness. Dementia is a term used to describe certain neurological disorders where besides memory problems there may be problems with performing activities of daily living, cognitive function impairment, poor judgement, disorientation and mood changes. When in doubt see your family physician.
