Correct: Ovulation happens 14 days before the period starts. The egg is fertile for only about 24 hours, so you cannot conceive when having sex 4 days before the period - that would be about 10 days too late for conception.

No: The egg can be fertilized for awhile before or after ovulation and the precum (very first of the semen) has the highest concentration of sperm. If you had a normal period that started on time it is unlikely that you are pregnant this time. Just because you got away with something, however, does not mean that it is safe. If you don't want a pregnancy, start a reliable method of contraception.
