Infection?: The matting is caused by the build up of excessive eye secretions during the night when your eyes are closed. Something is irritating your eye, your eyelids, the lash follicles or the inside of the eye lid. You need to see a doctor or qualified optometrist, find out the cause and get appropriate treatment. Don't wait until that eye IS red or irritated.
