You may have more: than a sprained back if you have residual weakness. Musculoskeletal injury to the back often responds to initial bed rest, muscle relaxants and NSAIDS. Trauma to the spinal cord itself obviates a more aggressive approach including surgery, stabilization, sometimes steroids. Make sure you let your doctor know you are having these problems. You may need to be reassessed if you have true weakness.
