I have had 2 urinalysis with microscopic tests done in the er,6 months apart. the epi, ur has been high on both tests one at 7 one at 8 what's it mean?

Infection??: Few epithelial cells are normally found in the urine sediments of both men and women. A high count may indicate infection,inflammation or malignancy. It may be helpful to have your doctor determine what type of epithelial cells so as to determine the origin and treat the underlying problem

Urinalysis: EPI cells in the urine refer to nephron or bladder epithelial cells that have been shed. The technician typically differentiates between squamous cells, which can appear in the urine from the vagina. Ur at 7 and Ur at 8 most likely refers to urine pH. There is no other number given on the U/A. Urine pH 8 is unusually high and indicates infection or high alkaline diet. Urine pH 7 is not unusual.
