Question why: usually antibiotics do not help kidney stones unless there is an infection with the stone. If the urine culture grew out an organism and it was sensitive to amoxicillin then it would be appropriate. Amoxicllin does not dissolve stones and some take it before a procedure to prevent an infection. If you do take it the dosage is three times a day

Stone therapy: Amoxicillin is an antibiotic. It does not impact kidney stones but can manage an associated infection in the urinary tract. Dose is 250 or 500 mg three times daily. Urinary infection in association with kidney stones is serious. Please do not medicate yourself or him yourself, as special care would be needed.
