Stop drinking: There may be allergies to something in whatever beverage you are drinking. Alcohol can release histamine in some people and cause itching. If you are drinking excessively, cut back to 2 or fewer drinks per day, and not more than 14 per week or more than 4 on any one occasion. Use of an antihistamine may help the symptoms, like benadryl (diphenhydramine) or one of the newer ones like zyrtec or claritin.
