Upper respiratory: tract infection. See your doctor for rapid strep test. In the mean time do salt water gargle.

Tonsillitis: The cough is the last symptom to leave and can linger. If you have had a sore throat for three days, it is probably a good idea to have a strep test. Sometimes, one tonsil can be more inflamed than the other.
