A member asked:

Can a tampon get pushed so high into your posterior fornix that your cervix is completely open and uncovered and susceptible to sperm?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: Tampon can "get lost"in the posterior fornix.Problem is not that cervix is "exposed"to sperm but it will begin to smell bad and also become a small risk of infection, including a very rare(but life-threatening) condition called toxic shock syndrome. It is best to go to your gyn doctor and have it removed. If you are worried about being pregnant get a pregnancy test.Best wishes.
