GI bleeding: So you have epigastric pain and black stool? Need to monitor your stool color closely. If it remains dark for the next day or so, you need to see a doctor. It might be a bleeding in the stomach or upper GI tract. If you feel fainting or weak, you need to seek medical help immediately.

Let your doctor know: Not all blood can be seen in a stool. Black is a red flag. Your doctor can order a set of cards to check your stool for occult blood and then proceed from there.
