Antibiotic diarrhea: This seems like a VERY long time to be on Augmentin-& now you have side-effects from that. I would want to get this checked TODAY to see if this is C. diff (Clostridium difficile) -a dangerous complication from too much antibiotics. I would NOT use imodium (loperamide) until u know the diagnosis, because that could make the problem worse. Hope u can see a doc today. Drink fluids/chicken soup to replace losses.

NO Immodium! Get 2MD: Agree 100% with Dr. Scholand. You need 3 tests from 3 different stools to get close to 100% sensitivity for picking up C. diff toxin. So one negative doesn't rule out the dx. Also starting metronidazole 500 mg three times a day will not interfere with the test . If untreated this can lead to toxic mega colon and bowel perforation. Call your physician's on call service now and follow their advice.
