Herpes: No you are only infective at certain times. When there are active lesions but one may become active just before the new lesions appease. I would discuss this with your GYN to get a good idea of how your herpes is "acting"

No: As long as you don't have active lesions ("vesicles") on your genital area you should not be infectious. Once they crust over they should not be infectious any longer. If you are trying to get pregnant and get an outbreak there are antiviral medications available to make it go away faster.
