I'm having a gastroscopy and colonoscopy next week. what is involved with the procedures?

Straightforward: You take a prep the afternoon or night before to clean out the colon. No food until after tests. At the time of the tests an IV is started and you get IV meds to sedate you. Next you will have a tube passed from mouth to the stomach. If anything is abnormal there may be a biopsy. Then another scope is inserted into the rectum and advanced to the end of the colon. Again biopsies if needed.

I hope they told you: we certainly should not be the sole source of information for this!! but - you'll need to take the laxatives for the colonoscopy the day before, show up at the right time, get an IV and some sedation. I like doing the endoscopies first - that's a 2min exam with a tube the size of your pinkie. Then you stay in same position and get the colonoscopy done. go to recovery & have someone take you home!
