How reliable is a pregnancy test 5 days before period?

See details: That would depend on the test. Some tests can detect a pregnancy several days before the miss period. The product should list how soon it is capable of detecting a pregnancy. If you tested five days before and it's negative, then I would wait a few days and repeat it.

Pregnancy: Hi, it depends what kind of pregnancy kit you have bought, some are very sensitive and could detect the pregnancy up to a wk prior to the next period.

Yes: if you are using standard urine pregnancy tests it is possible that they are not sensitive enough and that you are not far enough along in a pregnancy to be detected. That being said, typically negative urine preg means not pregnant, the only way to be sure is to see your doctor and have a beta quantitative HCG blood test. Best of luck.

Not zero: Pregnancy has been documented from exposure at any point of a woman's cycle, including during menses. It would be more likely for someone with irregular cycles, but possible for anyone. There are no "safe" days

HPT: Any of the fda approved home pregnancy tests should be okay. Be sure to follow the instruction closely. These tests start turning positive about a week after the missed period and it would be better to test at about 10 days after the missed period. You may get a more sensitive blood test from your doctor.
