Depends: It depends somewhat on the more specific nature if the fracture. If the fracture pieces are displaced and go into the joint, surgery may be needed. You would certainly want to be seen and understand the treatment options.

RICE NOW See DOC: RICE (Rest Ice Compression Elevation) and Crutches for 48-72 hours while you are waiting to see the Orthopedic Surgeon or Podiatrist for evaluation. Do not walk on this fracture until you have been cleared by your Doctor. If you can't see a specialist, see your Primary Care Doc or Urgent Care Doc who can Consult a Specialist. You will need a splint to cast or a splint to walking boot for this.
