Could be normal.: The menstrual lining develops and is supported by the hormones released from the ovary (estrogen and progesterone) If the hormone levels drop, then the lining loses some of that support and may start to break down. This happened every month when the progesterone and estrogen fall at month end when there is no pregnancy. It sometimes happens with a drop in estrogen after ovulation mid cycle.
