Exercise: A regular exercise regimen, with daily aerobic activity, does reduce LDL cholesterol (the bad kind) and increase your HDL cholesterol (the good kind). Exercise also helps you lose weight, which also improves your cholesterol (and more important, gives you a better lipoprotien profile)

No direct effect: Blood fats can be impacted by environmental and lifestyle factors, but sports per se are not one of them. It also depends on the sport. Vigorous & extended exercise can lower triglycerides & slightly raise HDL-C if there is weight loss, but, again, not a great deal of an affect on the cholesterol level itself. True believers may disagree, but no OBJECTIVE data validate their position. .
