ALS fasciculations: The firing rate for fasciculations in ALS is greater than that of benign fasciculations. When severe weakness and marked chronic neurogenic change is present on electromyography, the firing rate of fasciculations in ALS increases. The fasciculations of ALS are usually persistent.
