A member asked:

My wife is pregnant & her urine report shows albumin trace.what does it mean?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not significant: The presence of trace albumin on a urine dipstick would not confirm kidney disease. In early pregnancy, protein in the urine (proteinuria) suggests kidney disease, and in late pregnancy when accompanied by hypertension, it can suggest preeclampsia. In early pregnancy you need confirmation of 24 hour urine protein. Please keep all prenatal visit appointments and you should be fine. Hope that helps
