If this is a recurring problem you should be evaluated. Infections ; hormonal changes can cause spotting. If there is a concern for pregnancy then do a home pregnancy test . Periods: It sounds like you are describing clotted blood which can be normal if you are having a heavy period. As long as you are not bleeding excessively or passing large amounts of clots then you can just observe. If it worsens then you should follow up with your GYN or primary care doctor for further testing.
