Weight gain: If your newborn is breast feeding and falls asleep, she is likely getting enough and will wake and cry when hungry Weight gain is the best measure of good nutritional status. On a day to day basis you should see about 5-6 wet diapers a day to assure adequate fluid intake. If you have any doubts, have your doctor check her weight and keep track of her wet diapers.
