My 2d ultrasound showed signs of spina bifida and now i have to see a specialist for verification. i'm 16wks pregnant, can it be just a misreading?

90% of cases of : spina bifida are found on Fetal Ultrasound before 18 weeks. Your OB will suggest the next steps, which may include labs, a serum Alpha Feti-Protein level & MTHFR gene test to see if there's a reason for you to have low folate (folic acid) levels as well as a 3-D or high-resolution FUS. If confirmed, (s)he may refer to a fetal-maternal medicine specialist &, for delivery, all needed pediatric specialists.
