A member asked:

Why have i only had dark brown periods/discharge for the last 6months? i get the brown periods for about 4 days 2 times a month

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Lining: Dark brown periods are a sign that the blood that comes out of the vagina is old, rather than new. It could be that your lining of the uterus is very thin and there isn't a lot of blood, just a little bit of discharge. Having 2 periods a month isn't normal. Sounds like breakthrough bleeding. Reasons are typically hormone imbalance. Could be weight as well (thin/heavy). OCP can help regulate.
