Panic attacks: My guess is that you have panic disorder. There is no such disease as chronic hyperventilation syndrome. A psychologist can help you with relaxation exercises. Also, meds are available which are very helpful in treating panic attacks. Here is a web site to check out:

Very Likely: Hyperverventilation syndrome does exist (despite some opinions that it does not). It is commonly associated (but not always) with anxiety/panic disorder and agoraphobia. It can be over come usually with cognitive/behavioral therapy. See link http://emedicine.medscape.com/article/807277-overview
Would also be concerned about conditions causing calcium or magnesium levels to be off. Best of luck
