Panic attacks: My guess is that you have panic disorder. There is no such disease as chronic hyperventilation syndrome. A psychologist can help you with relaxation exercises. Very Likely: Hyperverventilation syndrome does exist (despite some opinions that it does not). It is commonly associated (but not always) with anxiety/panic disorder and agoraphobia. It can be over come usually with cognitive/behavioral therapy.
