Dry socket risk 24hr: After a full day, if all healing is going well you are probably safe - but waiting another day or two could be a smart thing. As for the chips - some say to wait longer (sharp) - ouch! Definitely ask for a handout from your dentist and ask particular questions too. That's part of their service to you. Hope it heals well.

Be patient: Do not use a straw for 3 days following surgery to protect the socket and to prevent dry socket. For multiple extractions, you should have soft foods for 48 hours and avoid hard, crunchy foods such as potato chips or nuts that may complicate the extraction site for at least 7 days.
