Need more info: How old are you? Age may give a clue as to the cause. GI problem, muscle spasm, even a heart problem are among the reasons for your complaint. My suggestion is to get to see your family physician very soon.

Multiple items: It could be a rib restriction. If you have a cough and fever it could be pleurisy. If it arose from the breast area the breast should be tender, red or painful.
