Irritation: Tobacco smoke is an irritant to tissues. You could be having pharyngitis from the irritation. As if the many other inherent dangers from smoking weren't enough to persuade you to quit, hopefully this will. If you develop high fever or are unable to swallow, see your doctor. Hope this helps!
