It depends: Vitex which is made from the fruit of the chaste tree is sometimes used to treat menstrual irregularities. So for most it is probably safe, but because it is felt to alter hormone regulation those who are pregnant, breast feeding, undergoing IVF or have hormone sensitive conditions like ovarian/breast/uterine cancer should probably avoid this supplement.

Yes if: Yes it is safe as long as you are not taking hormones including contraceptive hormones. It lowers FSH and effects hormone levels.

Yes: Vitex is derived from the chaste tree and contains mild phytoestorgens. It is recommended for menstrual cramps by those who use it. I am unaware of any literature suggesting Vitex is harmful.
