A member asked:

My greatgrandparents lived into their 90s, died of old age.but my grandma and many of her siblings had cancer in their 60/70s.how if cancers' genetic?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Mostly not genetic: Most cancers strike at random, and even when it's familial (some breast, many colon cancers), exactly who gets affected is also largely dumb luck. In practice, this means simply avoid tobacco, try to avoid the other genuine risks, and maintain surveillance.
