Can u take laxatives while taking medicine for pain?

You should.: I'm assuming you are taking opioid pain medicine (like vicodin, oxycodone, codeine etc.) If so, then you not only can but should take a bowel regimen as these medications are notorious for causing constipation. Generally, people take colace (docusate sodium) (which softens the stool) and senna (a laxative) to prevent constipation while taking the pain medicines.

Yes: it is recommended that you be on a laxative type medication to prevent opioid induced constipation.
