Stretch! Maybe PT: This sounds like trochanteric bursitis, which is inflammation in the region of the trochanteric bursa. The is prominence of the greater trochanter of the femur (leg bone) . Irritation happens here due to repetitive movements and relatively poor circulation in the area. Start with stretching and possibly physical therapy. You could consider a topical anti-inflammatory over the area.
