Numbness and tingling/burning in two toes. Had a stress reaction in foot and wearing a boot. Father & grandmother have neuropathy (unknown cause).

Nerve or not a nerve: What do you mean by a stress reaction? If you are thinking about neuropathy, stop. Symptoms in two toes, on one side? is not a sign of neuropathy. Perhaps you just irritated something by trauma. That's common, and not serious. There are ways to determine hereditary neuropathy, but for you, there is no need to do so.
