Inflammation: myositis in by definition an inflammation of muscle. It can be viral, fungal or bacterial. Biopsy is the definitive method.

Myositis info: Myositis(inflammation of the muscle) can result from mainly things including dehydration, medications, autoimmune disorders, sometimes viruses(although not too common), and even diet. A lab test called CPK can be performed which will be elevated in Myositis. Treatment often involves either eliminating the offending agent(medicines,foods) and sometimes some medications such as Prednisone
