A member asked:

What do you suggest if my wife is 30 weeks pregnant, and last week doctors said that, there is less water in the waterbag?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

AFI: We measure the fluid by doing an AFI (amniotic fluid index) and that level will change all day long based on how hydrated you wife is and when the baby last urinated. There is a range of normal AFI depending on the gestational age. Rest on her left side will increase it, but ask her OB if she has oligo (oligohydramnios). This would mean too little fluid and is a concern.
