Hyperparathyroid: Hyperparathyroidism is a situation when your blood calcium is higher than normal because of excess production of parathyroid hormone. The higher the parathyroid hormone and serum calcium the more symptoms you will including neurologic symptoms. Almost always the treatment of choice is removal of the parathyroid gland. There may as few as one abnormal gland or as many as all four glands.
