Normal: This value is completely normal. There are a number of ways to measure total bilirubin. Either mg/dL or umol/L are the two most common. Normal total bilirubin ranges between 0.3 and 1.9 mg/dL. A bilirubin of 8 umol/L is equivalent to 0.47 mg/dL which is completely normal.
